10/10Hard Times: New Big Test for Open Source
Here's what I see happening: Companies that have a solid history of experience with marketing and supporting open source - e.g., Red Hat, and also sensible folks like Alfresco and SugarCRM and so on -- will weather this without too much difficulty. If they've learned how to run lean and mean from the beginning to stay ahead of the commercial competition, that experience will all pay off here. Those who started small, and stayed small and fleet on their feet, will live all this down. Not only that, but a few of them will emerge as model examples for how open source makes economic sense in both good times and bad.
10/7Plus Consulting Recognized as Elite SugarCRM Partner
SugarCRM today announced a new partnership with Pittsburgh, PA-based Plus Consulting, a leading North American CRM reseller and consulting firm. Under the terms of the agreement, Plus Consulting will offer a full array of SugarCRM's commercial software solutions, including Sugar Professional and Sugar Enterprise. Both SugarCRM solutions are available through Plus Consulting as traditional on-site deployments, or delivered over the web via the software-as-a-service (SaaS) mode.
10/6SugarCRM: Opening up the source to SaaS
One of the big areas we are working on is applying Open Source principles to the on-demand world. We released a product called Sugar Data Center Edition which allows partners to manage their own on-demand instances using Systems Management technology we developed to manage our on-demand grid. It breaks the black box approach of on-demand vendors and places more control in the hands of the people who are closer to the customers.
10/6SugarCRM to Present a Webcast with Bright House Networks and Levementum on Designing and ...
SugarCRM will host a webinar panel discussion entitled: "From Pipeline Management to Total Customer Management." This interactive panel will feature SugarCRM customers Bright House Networks, the nation's sixth largest digital cable company servicing over 2.4 million end users, and Levementum, a leading professional services firm, who will discuss how to design and deploy an enterprise-class CRM platform using SugarCRM.
10/2Open Source, Can You Afford Not Considering?
Why is open source important? Let me share a personal experience. It was June and the Oregon Department of Human Services was going to implement the new HIPAA compliant codes for our Medicaid application in January of the coming year. If our partners did not update their systems before January they would have to file paper invoices, which we estimated would increase the States workload by around 60,000 paper invoices per month. One of our top system architects came to our rescue when he discovered SugarCRM on the Internet and since it was an open source application he was able to download and install it in a single day. Our customers loved it and since it was an open source application we were able to make some minor modifications (mostly to screen literals) and have it in production within days.
10/2New Technologies Cut Cost of Government IT Deployments
How do you do something for next to nothing? Governments are turning more to open source software, according to Deborah Bryant, public-sector communities manager of the Open Source Lab at Oregon State University. She cited a few examples among many, including The Oregon Department of Human Services deployed SugarCRM, a mature, open source customer relationship management (CRM) software suite that is much cheaper than most CRM systems.
09/30Opening new doors with Open Source
From consumer desktop software to enterprise-wide solutions, Open Source presents a significant opportunity for channel players prepared to stake a claim in this new frontier. If your customers are not already asking you about Open Source, they soon will be. Religious fervour is taking a back seat as Open Source comes of age.
09/29CRM Systems for Serving the Customer as 'King'
CRM is becoming less one-size-fits all and more customized apps and delivery methods to meet specific needs. To that end SugarCRM has come out with the Sugar Data Center Edition, which is comprised of systems management, provisioning and monitoring tools that enable centralized deployment and managing distinct Sugar CRM versions.
